We started with 12 walkers and before we left the car park we were 14, we should have been 15 but someone thought that it was better to go back home and put his feet up in front of a warm fire, the rest of us preferred to battle the roaring gale and enjoy ourselves. (I was surprised).
The route left the Victoria Hotel car park to the zigzag path and worked its way through the quarry and paths to meet the main road in Nant Peris just past the entrance to the big car park. We crossed the road and into the field opposite to the footbridge across the river. This was about half way so we stopped for a standing lunch, which was behind a wall out of the wind. Two walkers decided to take an early exit at this point. The route then had to go up a bit to an old rifle range building, (http://www.snowdonia-society.org.uk) and then over a metal stile. We then followed the river and paths to go behind the Bunk House and visit the copper mines. We then traversed across the hillside above the road to the Hebron footpath and on to the wooden stile where we left the path to head for Coed Victoria and back to the Victoria Hotel for a well-earned drink.
The weather was horrendous with torrential rain and high winds so thanks people for the support. Special thanks to Guto who was the back marker, and well done Robin.
