Having sat outside the cafe in Trevriw from nine am until ten reading the Sunday paper in sunshine, I sauntered across to the car park to put on my boots and await the arrival of the many that I was expecting for this great walk.
By ten fifteen three of us were dressed for extreme weather as it had started to rain and coupled with the wind we expected the worst. At 10.30 the six of us set off to climb out of the valley and walked through the ancient forests above Trefriw towards Llyn Geirionydd.
By the time we got to the lake shore it was lashing it down .After a short coffee break in the shelter of a stone barn we then dived into the shelter of the forest and headed to Llyn Crafnant.Once on the exposed path along Crafnant we experienced the worst of the weather in our faces but made good time .Lunch was had with good humour sat on pine needles and surrounded by a fascinating crop of dwarf toadstools.Crossing the ridge back to Geirinydd was accomplished in double quick time but once out again in the open we were hit by the wind and rain.We all agreed to quickly make our way back to Trefriw where we all enjoyed a very welcome cup of tea.We covered 9 miles in good time.
A very warm vote of thanks to Peter ,Doreen and Mary from Conway Ramblers, and Vicky and Lew for turning out and making the occasion a happy cheerful event, thank you very much, good company indeed.
