A very cheerful band of 26 left the top car park at Nant Gwrtheyrn bathed in sunshine. With Ifor providing the support as tail end gunner we set out along the Pilgrims trail towards Pistyll. Stopping and marvelling at the views on such a clear day was a joy indeed. To add some spice to the walk we dropped down on to the Coastal path and had coffee admiring the beautiful views of Nant Gwrtheyrn nestling in the trees above the sea shore. Pistyll Church provided a welcome stop for many, who were enjoying their first visit to the area. Ifor and I tried to keep the local history flowing all day, thanks Ifor.
Passing the old burnt out hotel we quickly made our way beneath Nefyn quarry and turned inland once we had admired the views down towards Nefyn and Porth Dinllaen.
We had lunch perched on exposed rocks or amongst the bracken basking in the sun.
A Welsh mountain pony provided us all with some entertainment until he roughly dumped Margaret in the bracken, after which we all made a retreat down the hillside and across the cattle grid to safety. The walk back to Pistyll crossed some very rough ground and a steep descent to rejoin the Pilgrims Way. The return to the car park was a welcome stroll despite the stiff climbs.
The weather was great throughout the walk, the chat and company excellent,we certainly met a whole new gang of fellow walkers with similar interests, to all of you "thank you".
