[left]Twelve of us set off from the Moranedd Cafe, Criccieth in warm, sunny weather at 10am. We began by walking parallel to the railway, up and over Craig Ddu and then turned inland and enjoyed a lunch-time stop with fine views over mountain ranges, Tremadog Bay and looking back to Criccieth Castle. There was a wealth of wild flowers including patches of orchids.
Walking along an easy track to Ffordd Morfa Bychan, four Llamas kept a watchful eye on us as we admired them but the herd of ponies ignored us. A cooling walk through woodland took us to the large rock commemorating
the famous Welsh poet 'David of the white rock' - thank you Ifor for the information. On to Borth-y-Gest and a welcome rest on the seats overlooking the estuary. Spurred on by the thought of a refreshing pint (or two) we walked briskly along the shore line, past the busy boatyards, skirted Porthmadog High Street and along the canal to the Station Inn. The train arrived on time and we were back in Criccieth in 8 minutes - our walk had taken a more leisurely 4 hours!
Thank you Dave for planning such an interesting and varied route, just sorry you were unable to walk with us.
