Having discovered that a Food & Craft Fair will be taking place at Portmeirion, with lots of people expected, rather than having a cafe meal I suggest that you bring food and drink for lunch. The Winter Entry Voucher (download at
www.portmeirion-village.com or from TICs) usually gives free entry, but this weekend the visit will cost £4. Still a lot cheaper than the usual fee!
Before Porthmeirion we will be visiting Ffestiniog Railway's train works at Boston Lodge. Whether you are a railway buff or not, this historical location provides lots of interest, with all sorts of engineering work and carriage renovation taking place. The works are situated at the far end of the Cob in Porthmadog. We will walk across the top of the Cob, with fine views on either side. We then have a guided tour of the works lasting about an hour. Usually there is no public admittance to Boston Lodge, so this is a good chance to go behind the scenes.
While there is no set fee for the visit it is custom to make a donation, so I will be collecting £2-50 per person when we arrive there. The Railway need to know our numbers before we arrive, so if you intend coming on the walk can you please email me at
davewoods@toucansurf.com or phone 01286 650696, by Wednesday 28th November. Thanks
Dave
