With sun and blue sky nearly all day, and conditions so much drier underfoot than when walking the route ten days ago, we had a good day in the hills. The walk in through Beddgelert Forest brought us to the steep climb up to Bwlch Meillionen. At around 1800ft, a good spot for an early lunch, with a great panorama of mountains in view, and plenty of time for a game of ‘what mountain is that?’.

The descent down Cwm Llefrith to then follow old slate tramway up Cwm Pennant brought ever changing views of the peaks of the Nantlle Ridge, before we crossed the final bwlch and headed for the delights of Rhyd Ddu. Well, some had to leave for home, but the rest of us enjoyed a drink in the warm sunshine alongside the Cwellyn Arms. Looking up at Snowdon, and not envying the thousands who would have walked it that day. Thanks for the company today, it was good to welcome some new faces, catch you on a future walk.
