The weather is looking good for Saturday and Roy will be leading this walk
for me.
Part of the celebration of the official opening of the North Wales
Pilgrimage Route from Basingwerk Abbey near Holywell to Ynys Enlli. This C+ walk is only around 5 miles. Starting at sea level we climb steadily up Bwlch yr Eifl, lunch on top of Garn Fôr (great views) then the quick way down to Nant Gwrtheyrn avoiding the road to the Welsh Language Centre for around 14:30.
There will be a chance to wander around the museum and historical expositions and use the centre cafe. There is a book launch taking place so it may be very busy. A car shuttle will ensure those who wish to get back
to the start"
B Walk extension.
As an option to make a full day of it, Roy proposes to walk back to Trefor up through the forest via the mountain bike track and then a steady stroll along the Bwlch yr Eifl track to descend directly through Yr Eifl quarry down to Trefor.
This gives good views of Ynys Mon and Caernarfon plus being amazed at man's endeavour in the quarry. Additional distance approx 3.5 miles around 2.5. hours.
