Eighteen of us left the Dolbadarn Castle car park in in the middle of a short hail shower, which apart from another very short but heavy rain shower later in the walk was the only bad weather we had throughout the walk, this was surprising bearing in mind the weather forecast.
Our walk wound its way through the country park taking advantage of its countless tracks and paths (including a stretch recently cleared by our path clearing volunteers) eventually reaching the road at Fach Wen. After a short climb up the nearby foot path we found a sheltered spot out of the wind to have lunch.
After lunch we continued climbing above Dinorwic before descending through the village and back into the country park. We then followed a path that took us above the Vivian Quarry eventually joining up with the Zig Zag path that would take us back down to Llanberis.
On our way down we visited the Anglesey Barracks and also the old steam driven Power Station built in 1938 to provide electricity for the Dinorwic Quarry.
In the end the walk turned out to be just over six miles slightly more than originally planned, however the general consensus was that it at been an enjoyable walk.
