Saturday 13 Feb.
With a change of leader, John H led a 6 mi walk over and around Moel y Gest, the original leader, John C being busy.
19 , or was it 20 ? of us met on the car park at Borth y Gest on a fairly sunny but very windy morning. Setting off along the coastal path, a brief detour down onto the beach and then a bit more coastal path before we turned inland towards the golf course.
Heading towards the hills, we stopped for coffee under a tree where one member returned towards the start in search of his walking pole.
Returning without it and stating the intention to go back to the start, it was suggested that he may have left it a few yards away near his chosen "watering hole". It was there so all ok.
A fairly steady climb, after sorting out which side of the wall to follow! led us towards Moel y Gest where we followed the fairly steep ascent to the West Summit with a break for lunch in a pleasant stop out of the wind and with great views .
From the west summit we followed the ridge towards the Bwlch before the majority headed to the East summit before returning to the Bwlch and descending via the usual path.
Everyone said that they had enjoyed to day, several of the group not having sampled this great little mountain before.
I didn't take photos but there are several on facebook.
