No more cancelled walks!

Dave Stephens reports that he has revised the start for his walk on our programme on Sunday March 9th, due to water logging on his first route.

We did a recce on our walk earlier in the week as we are away on holiday from tomorrow and not back until the 6th March.
The route once again is water logged with the water level at a stream crossing above wellies. Tried diversions but without success.
I had a chat with Dave and so that we don’t have to post another cancellation on the web looked for an alternative with minimum disruption.
I have found a walk which starts about a mile away in Dolwyddelan albeit a short walk of just 4 miles ,a circular through Carreg Alltrem, which is manageable in all weather. It is on forest tracks and hard surfaced paths. The first half is through forest and the second half is back to Dolwyddelan through Cwm Penamnen with open views.
The start point is approx one mile by car from the original so we can put in the new grid ref and anyone who goes to the original start point can be diverted accordingly.
At least it will not be a wasted journey for people looking forward to a walk and there is the possibility of a pub visit afterwards and for those wishing to venture further there is Dolwyddelan Castle near by.
