This is an opportunity too walk over two of Wale's 3000ft summits one of which has recently been promoted to become 1000 metre summit. making it one of only five in Wales.
Despite what is says in the description of this walk the actual ascent only just over 2000ft and it really is less than seven miles.
From the Pen y Gwryd Hotel we climb steadily to Cwm Caseg Fraith and after crossing the valley bottom we follow the well cairned path to the summit of Glyder Fach (3213ft). Following the path we circle round Castell y Gwynt through Bwlch y Ddwy Glyder and on to the summit of Glyder Fawr(3242ft) The decent to Pen y pass is over varied terrain but none overly steep. From Pen y Pass we will take the new track down to Pen y Gwryd were a welcome refreshment awaits us.
There is quite a bit of parking at Pen y Gwryd mostly pay and display, however there are some free places just after you pass the "Conway" sign heading towards Capel Curig.Another alternative is to park in Llanberis or Nant Peris and use the Sherpa service.
Lets hope for some good weather !!!!
