Two issues have arisen with respect to the Caernarfon & Dwyfor Group walk (leader Denis McAteer) which is to take place next Sunday 22 August:
1. There is no longer a bus service from Porthmadoc to Blaenau Ffestiniog for those wishing to travel to the start of the walk by bus. Unfortunately, therefore, it will be necessary for walkers wishing to participate in this walk to make alternative arrangements.
2. Gwynedd Council have issued a closure notice on a section of road that was to be included in the route. A change has therefore had to be made to the final destination and the walk will now finish in Penrhyndeudraeth at the road junction near the police station. The distance of the walk and the grade will remain as in the programme.
For those sharing transport to shuttle between the start and finish point it is advisable to have one vehicle left in Penrhyn (not Porthmadog) in order to get back to vehicles left at the start in Blaenau. Every effort will be made to reach the finish point in Penrhyn in time to catch the 4.40pm bus which is due to run from Penrhyn to Blaenau for those needing to use public transport to return to their cars in Blaenau - this cannot be guaranteed!!!!
Best wishes
Denis
