Seven C&D members and two of Margaret’s sailing friends assembled at the bus stop in Clynnog Fawr, ready to catch the bus to Llanaelhaern. The very smart coach that came along added Ifor to our number, making ten in all, a number we kept checking after being enveloped in cloud about half an hour after walking out of the village. Apart from grass, stone walls, gates and a few inquisitive horses, and ourselves of course, that was the last we saw of the world until we dropped down to the lane near Capel Uchaf some time later. Well done Margaret on the route finding!
We now had good views over Caernarfon Bay as we headed for Clynnog Fawr, leading to an easy and very nice couple of miles of descent. By then Irish Chris and Ifor had peeled away to walk back to Groeslon via Lon Eiffion, putting the rest of us to shame by probably nearly doubling the walk length! Could it have been something to do with the pub in Clynnog Fawr being closed, adding its name to the ever lengthening list of former pubs?
Good to see Dave Stephens out with us, coping with his feet problems – hope that Pat is soon able to join him again. We can all recommend the bags of apple windfalls that he brought along, made a lovely apple pie.
So thanks for a nice walk Margaret. I suppose the silver lining to the cloud was that we could all chat away without being distracted by the scenery!
