The forecast for Aberdaron next week is wall to wall sunshine, which is just the weather we had last September when doing this walk. Will we be as lucky this year?!
After the white knuckle bus ride down the steep hill to Plas yn Rhiw a few minutes in the peaceful gardens will seem appropriate. Ascending the hillside under Mynydd Rhiw we eventually turn to the coast again to follow the Mynydd y Graig hillside. It’s situation above Porth Nigel, the beautiful colours, and ruined smallholdings reminiscent of parts of Scotland after the clearances, make this the highpoint of the walk. Some of the coast nearer Aberdaron was still off limits last year, but new paths have been created so road walking should be very limited (not that it was at all busy).
If you are coming on the walk, close to the bus stop in Aberdaron is a little bakery – highly recommended for a call before the morning bus.
