A glorious, warm, sunny day with fabulous views- a great time was had by all.
That was what I hoped to say but in truth, it was not like that.
The forecast was definitely not promising although it was not raining when we set out. Spots appeared on the windscreen by the time we were passing Trawsfynydd and when we turned into the lane by the dustbins these had increased somewhat.
The car park in the forest was empty when we arrived, followed by one car (not part of our "flock").
To show willing, we donned boots & waterproofs and by the scheduled start time of 10:30 , no one else had arrived , the rain had almost reached monsoon level and the mist/cloud/ rain completely obscured the surrounding countryside.
After little discussion, an executive decision was unanimously reached and we started to remove said boots and waterproofs when, to our dismay, a car appeared. It was Martin from Meirionnydd group. Luckily he agreed with our decision so we all went home.
Hopefully we will put this route on in the future and be blessed with the type of weather we had a couple of weeks ago on the recce because it really is a great walk but not in today's conditions
