Dear All,
Within easy reach of some of the Britain’s finest walks, the a number of HF Holiday’s Country Houses have been chosen for a series of Ramblers Route Card Development Workshop. Coupled with the County Houses’ range of top-quality facilities, these venue provide the perfect environment for learning all there is to know about developing good walking route cards.

The days will begin at 9.30am (registration from 9am) and will be hosted by the Ramblers’ Routes Project Manager, Justin Bend.

The morning will be based in the ‘classroom’ and will cover a variety of subjects including an overview of the Ramblers Routes project, what makes a good route, key stages of route development, plotting and writing up a route and how to use the Ramblers web-based route development tool.

Lunch will be provided and following lunch we will move onto to more field-based activities and put into practice the skills which have been gleaned in the morning. Delegates will each undertake two separate short-walks of approximately 2-miles each, followed by a group assessment and review of the routes. It is expected that the day will finish at approximately 4pm.

There is ample free parking at most the venues but where possible delegates are asked to car share.

The training in the field will take place rain or shine so it is advisable to dress for the weather and to wear decent walking shoes. It is hoped that those delegates that attended the day will go on to develop a range of walking routes that will then be shared with other walkers on the Ramblers website.
