I have recently purchased a Ventus G730 GPS Route Logger, and for those that like gadgets it is a must have. At £44.95 the present offer price it is a compact tracking unit with a host of uses. At the start of your walk turn it on and then turn it off at the end of your walk. Once home plug the G730 into your PC and view your track on Google Earth, the software supplied sorts this out this for you. It also records distance, altitude etc. It will even put in your digital photos on the route exactly were they were taken, and can enter short descriptions of interest etc, all good for future reference. Accuracy is spot on and you get 18 hours continuous use after a 2hr charge via your usb port on the pc. You will see it available on the web, just put it's name into the search engine. If you buy one let me know.
