Despite Nigel insisting that this report stated that we spent the whole day in torrential rain (He wants to maintain his reputation as Rainmeister)), we had a lovely sunny (albeit a bit cool & windy at times) day on Saturday while most of the UK suffered storms & floods.
Starting from the power station road we followed the 'old road' to almost Pen y Gwyryd before crossing the main road and ascending the grassy, sometimes boggy but not too steep slope towards Carnedd Cribiau, the highest point of the day. The 360 degree views were clear all round, even the cloud cap on Snowdon lifting for a while.
From here it was downhill (almost) all the way via Bwlch Maen Pig and Bwlch Rhediad to cross the main road and continue down to the 'old' road. A boggy traverse of the valley, orshould it be a traverse of the boggy valley to the western side of Afon Glaslyn took us to the decent path back to the power station where a few hundred yards slightly uphill, led us back to the start point.
Twelve plus leader all had a great day with 7 miles of enjoyable walking and (for Nigel), surprisingly few real bogs!
