Starting from lagoons in Llanberis we walk via Glynrohnwy onto the Clegyr road. It was in this area that bombs were stored during 2nd World War, these were disposed of in the 1970's. We heard massive explosions almost daily!!
We leave Clegyr and walk around the lower slopes of Cefn Ddu,at times the path is very vague and can be pretty wet underfoot! We pass close to the old Marconi Wireless Transmitter site, walking between the abandoned concrete blocks which supported the massive areals and guy lines, and then onto the Bwych y Groes road before the descent into Llanberis for refreshments at Pete's Eats.
For those who are not too shattered, the option to take in the summit of Cefn Ddu will be available, about another 30mins, affording good views over Caernarfon and Anglesey from the ruined war time look-out post (for potential invasion from Irish Sea), before the descent into Llanberis.
