Looks like we are four days late with this walk, as summer seems to be vanishing again. The forecast for Sunday could be a lot better, let’s hope things improve by then! Our route follows the easy Snowdon Ranger path for the first hour or so. We then cut off into Cwm Brwnynog, to follow a thin path that takes us to the start of the boulder field leading up to Llyn Du’r Arddu. From there we climb to join the main Llanberis path for the walk up to Clogwyn station, then soon leave the usually busy path to walk up to Gyrn Las and on up to Garnedd Ugain.
On a good day we would have close up views of the Clogwyn Du’r Arddu cliffs and later fine views down into Cwm Glas and across to Crib Goch. We might not be so lucky on Sunday, but fingers crossed.
Please be prepared for a more simple walk if the weather is bad – boulder hopping in the mountains is good on dry days, not much fun in wind and rain.
