Who needs paths, (well maybe Edmund?)
Fourteen left the Y Glyn car park at 10am in pouring rain to head through Coed Doctor and the back streets of Llanberis. Just before entering Cwm Dwythwch we picked up a stray walker called Dave and we were now fifteen, the rain had stopped, so nothing could stop us now.
We headed along the west side of the cwm overlooking Llyn Dwythwch and on to the old mantlet, (look it up) where we split into two parties Ron taking the traverse as not to lose height and the rest of us taking in the sights of the mantlet, but with Edmund in the lead we still headed Ron at the meeting point. At the head of the cwm we stopped for lunch and then headed through a small ravine on to the col and then up to the summit of Foel Coch.
Our stray walker then went on his own way, we all said bye Dave and we headed north down the broad grass ridge over Cefn Drum, to end up at the north east end of Llyn Dwythwch. We then worked our way along footpaths to Llanberis. On the way we lost another walker which was OK with Edmund (two being the optimum number he allows me). 11 of us ended up in Pete’s Eats for tea before heading back to the cars and home.
Thanks to all those that participated in this walk.
Thanks to Guto & Vicky for doing the back marker thing.
