10:30 start but remember- the road sign on the main road saying Cwm Penant 2.5mi only indicates the start of the Cwm!
The first half mile of the walk is the steepest but there's no rush. An early coffee stop at the Cwm Ciprwth mine machinery gives scope for some exploration and cameras might be useful.
We then cross open moorland with one steepish field (up) before about 3 miles almost all downhill. Superb views almost all the way. On meeting the road near Plas Penant we unfortunately have about a mile on the road as the intended route via stepping stones was deemed 'not on' on the recce as the stones are too far apart and the water flow is quite fast. Someone, not me, commented that it would be impossible for little people with short legs.
Then we head towards the top end of Cwm Penant before returning to the cars.
The total distance is about 8 miles but there are several easy break off points for anyone who has been let out on a timed pass.
Very limited parking at the start but ample parking about 200 yds further along the road. If you get to the start and there's no room, keep going for 200 yds.
