Bad weather having led to the cancellation of the C&D walk on 1 October, it was good to see a sizable group joining Mickey on Porthmadog station platform three days later for his rail ramble from Tonfanau to Tywyn. The weather was ok for most of the day, just a little rain after lunch, and all went well until in Twyn they heard that the homeward bound train had problems further down the line. With nearly an hour to wait Mickey led the way to the nearest pub, which probably led to some gentle snores on the train journey home.
Three days later and Nigel was leading a group of thirteen walkers out of Betws y Coed, deputising for the injured Guto. Read his entertaining account next – did we really climb 1700ft? Best wishes to Guto for a speedy recovery.
