Pen yr Helgi Du - Saturday 29 July

This Saturday, July 29th.
Pen yr Helgi Du. 5.5 miles following the reservoir access road to Ffynnon Llugwy Reservoir (good panad stop). Then along the eastern side of the lake where the path starts to climb up to the col, Bwlch Eryl Farchog, where (weather permitting) there are superb views in (almost) all directions. The path now leads to a gorgeous and EASY scramble to the summit of Pen Yr Helgi Du (about 2700 ft) with the superb views continuing.
Probable lunch stop in this area.
The gentle descent following a broad, grassy ridge leads to the leat (drainage channel) at SH700607 where we turn right and follow the channel to reach the access road with less than half a mile back to the road,

NOTE. As there is VERY limited parking space at the entrance to the reservoir track, we meet at Gwern Gof Isaf Farm Car Park, a couple of hundred yards towards Ogwen where ther is a £2 parking fee payable at the farmhouse.
