Bontnewydd Bypass and Lon EifionThank you to those who have joined the campaign to ensure that users of Lon Eifion are not left to negotiate two busy main roads, when the Bontnewydd bypass is built. At gathering of Ramblers, CTC and Sustrans members at the Goat roundabout in Llanwnda, (where Lon Eifion and the bypass meet,) made clear the wide range of people using that part of Lon Eifion. In that short period, a dog walker, various cyclists, two local ladies out walking and a man pushing a child in a buggy, all passed by. There is now a lot of pressure on the designers to come up with a proper solution for this crossing point, but so far there is no indication that anything more than plain road crossings are planned. So please take whatever opportunity presents its self to add your voice calling for bridge crossings over these major roads.
As the bypass is being built by the Wales Government, one person who should have been listed as someone to contact is Edwina Hart, the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport. She can be emailed at:-correspondence.edwina.hart@wales.gsi.gov.uk
Walks for 2016
Walks leaders.
It is good to have Derek and Wendy Pearson joining the band of leaders for our next walks programme. It would be nice to have more new faces to add to the list of regular leaders. Every six months they can be found looking at maps and scratching their heads, searching for new routes to follow. If you think you might like to lead the occasional walk, but would like to know more about what is involved, how about chatting to myself or any of the leaders in the next few months – work on the next programme starts early in 2016, for walks from next July.

The Autumn Social Programme starts!Come and join me at the Madiha, Garndolbenmaen at 7 p.m. Friday, 9th Oct for tasty Indian food at a reasonable price and the good company of fellow ramblers. The service is good and there are options for British food. The restaurant is on the main A486 Caernarfon-Porthmadog road just before the first turning signed Garndolbenmaen if travelling from the north and just after the second turning to Garn if approaching from the south. Let me know if you are coming, so I can let them have an idea of numbers, my Telephone No is 01286 660370. E-mail

Caernarfon and Dwyfor Ramblers Group AGM.This has been fixed as Wednesday November 11th, 7pm in Talysarn Community Centre. The special speaker will be Gareth Roberts of Menter Fachwen on local history to be found on local short walks.
We have a tradition of making our AGM’s a special occasion. If you can offer a contribution to the catering, that would be very helpful, please contact Chris (Irish) on 01286 830212 or Mob: 07770 676003.
Edmund will be retiring at the next AGM after twelve years on the committee. It is time for fresh blood? So there will be vacancies to fill on the committee, at the AGM. It is not good for our group for old officers to linger on!
