No butties needed on Saturday for a walk from the Snowdonia Brewpub/WHR car park in Waunfawr over Bwlch y Groes to Llanberis. Being a January walk I thought it might make a nice change to have the warmth of Pete’s Eats as a venue for lunch, before we head back over the bwlch to Waunfawr. Mainly on paths before lunch, leading up to and through the felled woodland at Donen Las, then descending from the bwlch through the edge of the old Glyn Rhonwy slate quarries (unless the weather is bad). Mostly a different route on the way back, with more lane walking, then the reward at the end of the walk, a chance to enjoy one of the pubs own beers, brewed in the micro-brewery below the pub.
Roy and I did the walk last Monday, though not without some retracing of steps, as the usual route of the walk is blocked until bridge repairs are carried out. Alternative paths have been found and Roy is quite happy with the route, which is just as well, as he will be leading instead of me! He has come to my recue, as this weekend we will be hosting a Woods family Christmas get together Mark 2, illness having got in the way of the December version. And yes, the Christmas tree, cards and everything else are still in place, and the twinkly outside lights ready for switching on again.
The walk starts at 10.30, I hope you enjoy the day, and particularly the bacon butty at Pete’s Eats.
