"On Saturday (19 April 2014) Denis McAteer of Ramblers Cymru lead a walk of approximately 12 miles which took a group of 16 walkers from Blaenau Ffestiniog to Penrhyndeudraeth. Everyone enjoyed a clear sunny day with some wonderful views of the mountains and down the beautiful Vale of Ffestiniog. The route started in Cwm Bowydd and went to Cymerau Falls before crossing the Afon Goedol near Rhyd-y-Sarn. From there an uphill section took everyone to Dduallt Station in time for a sandwich lunch. The route passed the 16C/17C house at Dduallt where the owner, Hugh Jenkins, had kindly left a potted history of the house for the walk leader (Hugh being busy up at the Moelwyn Race). Proceeding past Llyn Mair and through the woods near Plas Tan-y-Bwlch the originally planned route had to be modified because of fallen trees caused by the storms earlier in the year. The walk finished in Penrhyn after about 3470ft of descent and 2740ft of ascent!!!" Denis McAteer
