| Subject: Beddgelert ,Cwm Ddu,-Rhyd Ddu Walk Saturday January 19th Mon Jan 20, 2014 4:35 am | |
| Ten intrepid walker’s stood at the bus stop in Rhyd-Ddu in full wet weather gear in pouring rain, fully prepared to face whatever the elements could throw at them during the walk, however by the time we reached Beddgelert the rain had stopped and the sky was clearing. In fact apart from a very short light shower we had perfect walking conditions for the time of year.
From Beddgerlert we joined the recently completed multi-use track (that now links Beddgelert and Rhyd-Ddu) for a while before heading off into the forest eventually reaching Llyn Llewelyn were we took advantage of the conveniently located picnic tables have our lunch.
From Llyn Llewelyn we followed the forest track around Cwm Du and then descended to Pont Gaer Gors were we picked up the multi-use track again which took us around Lyn Y Gader back to Rhyd-Ddu.Our eight mile walk taken at a fairly brisk pace inevitably left us with a thirst which was very quickly quenched sitting by a lovely log fire in the Cwellyn Arms.
The" highlight" of the walk for me was that a lovely lady from Anglesey gave me a jar of marmalade which I believe was originally meant for Edmund !!
“He who braves the Elements gets the Prize or in this case the Marmalade”
