A dry(ish), misty morning saw us meeting at Garn for JC's walk.
Starting along lanes we quickly reached tracks and footpaths leading towards Llwyd Mawr.
The route then followed the straight wall passing to the east of Mynydd Graig goch, past bwlch Cwmdulyn and then climbing steeply over the very rough terrain to the summit of Garnedd Goch. Visibility very limited.
As we were descending by the same route, one or two of our number decided to miss out on the steep ascent/descent and wait for the rest to return.
When we were all reunited, a lunch stop was made at Bwlch Cwndulyn before the steady walk towards Graig Goch to reach the summit plateau at the eastern(606m) end. A short, rocky but fairly level wander across the plateau brought us to the top (610m). Looking back towards Garnedd Goch the mist/cloud had cleared but the view that we had hoped for could not tempt us to return.
A fairly gradual descent brought us back to our ascent route. We then detoured to the west, forming a loop before again joining the outward route near Bryn Eithin before retracing our steps through the lanes back to Garn. We were unfortunately not in time for refreshment at the Cross Foxes.
I recall that when John led this walk a few years ago, the ground was far more boggy than today but we did manage to find some soggy bits!
A good, fairly hard 8.6 miles.
Thanks John for a good walk.
