The right route, the right conditions and good company. That was the day on Saturday.
A clear, cloudless day, not too warm.
14 of us set off from "the end of the lane" for the initial steep ascent up the grassy slope. The gradient soon eased as we went diagonally round the flank of Garnedd Goch to Bwlch Cwmdulyn where a gentle 'stroll' to the rocky summit of Mynydd Graig Goch led to plenty of dry 'seats' for a lunch stop. While most of us were quite content to 'picnic' by the lower summit(1988 ft) a few made the short summit crossing to the real top (2001.3 ft).
We then (almost) retraced our steps to Bwlch Cwmdulyn before making the steady ascent of Garnedd Goch(2297 ft) . A stroll across the rocky plateau led us to the last, and highest top of the day, the cairn on Craig Cwm Silyn(2408 ft). Apart from the superb views, the main attraction here was the "relaxed dog".
Crossing the top to Craig yr Ogof we then descended the western rim of Cwm Silyn before following the track back to the start.
7.8 miles with over 2100 ft total ascent.
