Caernarfon and Dwyfor Ramblers have now brought the work they do together under a project, ‘Gwynedd on Foot’ with the aim of delivering positive results for local Communities. The main aim is to encourage more people to walk their local path so that the quality and quantity of the footpaths they use will improve.
To give the Communities a head start the Footpath Volunteers are working with Gwynedd Council on Public Rights of Way throughout the County. Those involved receive ongoing professional training and the work done is to a very high standard. This includes clearing away surface vegetation, brambles and generally improving the path surface. The aim now is to find people new to walking, particularly those who are inactive or who have health problems, and motivate them to walk more regularly on our beautiful public footpath network that is continually being improved and made accessible and easy to walk.
During June the Footpath Volunteers will be working with Ramblers Cymru and Youth Cymru on an exciting project to get young people in Gwynedd involved in improving and enjoying their walking environment.
Caernarfon and Dwyfor Ramblers also offer a comprehensive walk program and welcome new members and volunteers to get involved in any part of the work they do.
