Rhyd Ddu, Thursday 25th April - cloud down to the road, rain driving in from the west - the morning started as forecast. Most people took the sensible option, either staying in bed or finding other things to do. But the hard people were out, Irish Chris leading the way, plus three out of towners. Add me, a slightly reluctant leader in today's weather, and that was the group.

The weather was due to improve during the day, which it did around 3pm as we came back over Bwlch Maesgwm. Having paddled our way from Rhyd Ddu to the Snowdon Ranger path, we walked on to reach the green post gate were we would have turned to head up to Cwm Clogwyn, Llechog and Snowdon. That was a route for a much better day than today, so instead we went over the bwlch into Cwm Brwnynog and made a circuit of Moel Cyngorion.

It was very wet underfoot, but the rain cleared away as we walked back to Rhyd Ddu, taking a look at the impressive Glanrafon Quarry pool on the way. Then we ended the day in the Cwellyn Arms, the fire there always appreciated. Seemed to have four walkers happy with the day, the pint was good (I was getting the bus with Chris) and we came out to bright weather. An hour later at home we had the sun, blue sky and Snowdon clear as a bell! Ah well, better luck next time.

Dave
