| A great St Valentine Day walk, a repeat of last years popular walk. Members from as far away as Wrexham came last year! Meet at the old Groeslon Station, now a car park. SH473 559 Thousands of pounds has been sent on restoring the old Brygwyn railway track to a well drained footpath. Picnic lunch will be taken at Tryfan junction, the half way point. A car will be parked there ready to take anyone back to the start point, most will want to return on the lower route, which finally reaches Lon Eifion before returning to the car park. Ifor is a mine of information on local characters and history especially of the old railway, before Dr Beeching had his way! He has also negotiated with landowners to divert from the path on the return journey to avoid very muddy sections. Councillor Elwyn Jones may well be with us too? He was the leading light in creating this new railway footpath, he fought the battles over local opposition and obtaining grants to make it a top grade path. An invitation to Ifor's favourite watering hole follows.. | |
