sunny Weather permitting, this 5+ mile walk provides some of the best views available in Snowdonia and reaches over 3100 ft. It is a walk rather than a scramble but in a few places it is better to 'pack the poles' and use your hands. From the magnificent and inspiring Cwm Idwal we pass below the Idwal Slabs and ascend to the base of the Devil's kitchen. Although I can remember going up this 'crack' some 50 yrs ago, wearing hob-nailed boots,we will follow the path to the side to come out by Llyn y Cwn with fantastic views of the Glyderau, Carneddau, Snowdon, and much further. Then on to Y Garn, 3107ft. before the descent back to the 'North shore' of Llyn Idwal (skinny dipping optional) and then back to Ogwen. The only possible disadvantage of Saturday is that it is weekend so we won't have a view from above of RAF Hawks and Tornadoes as they go down the valley!
