Coastal Path Walk Porth Oer to Aberdaron Sun May 6th 10.am.

Although we are meeting on the Car Park in Aberdaron the walk will actually start at Porth Oer (Whistling Sands) which is about two miles away. This will necessitate us doing a bit of car sharing to get us all to Porth Oer for the start and again to retrieve the cars form Porth Oer at the end of the walk. It’s a bit messy but I can’t think of a better way of doing it in the absence of any public transport. I have arranged with the National Trust for us to have free parking at both Aberdaron and Porth Oer.(Just say you are doing the coastal path walk ) One further point, if you are traveling with a full car it would be best if you went straight to Porth Oer.

Once we eventually get walking we will follow the coastal path around Mynydd Anelog and then on to the top of Mynydd Mawr which is right at the end of the Peninsula. From here we should get a great view of Bardsey Island and also if it’s clear the mountains of Snowdonia.

From here we will continue along the coastal path above St Mary’s well following the path to Pen y Cil before descending into Porth Meudwy.We them climb out of the cove and continue along the coastal path eventually reaching the beach at Aberdaron where liquid refreshment awaits.

There are a considerable number of wonderful coastal path walks taking place over this weekend but I would suggest this must be one of the best.
