Pat and Dave led us, on Saturday March 31st, down the now familiar Afon Dwyfor. Starting over the Golf Course above Criccieth we dropped down to Dyffryn Dwyfor to enjoy the Daffodils the the Wood Anemonies and the beginnings of the bluebells. A picnic lunch was taken on the banks of the river, before the return leg hugging the coast, with Criccieth Castle seemingly never getting any closer! It must have been because the walk turned out to be nine miles, rather longer than expected.
We knew one of the best treats of the Ca/Dw year awaited, huge generous hospitality at Pat and Dave's lovely home and garden. Choices of delicious home made cakes, a tea urn, borrowed from the local Church, for an instant brew for all nineteen people who came along. Dot and family came from Bala for the walk. Only Dot walked , but her family joined in for the refreshments.
We missed some of our regular members, who were helping out with the Bangor and Bethesda Group, as Lew Devlin was unwell. Then there was Denis (Chairman), who held the fort at Welsh Council in Wrexham, with no support. Two slices of chocolate were taken home by Monica as a reward for his sacrificial service to the Ramblers.
